The Board of Studies NSW was established in 1990 to serve government & non-government schools in the development of school education for Years K-12. It is also responsible for the registration of non-government schools who must abide by the Education Act 1990. The Board of Studies, Teaching and Educational Standards NSW (BOSTES) commenced operation on 1 January 2014. It brings together the functions previously provided by the Board of Studies NSW and the NSW Institute of Teachers.
